Busty Superhero Chicks for Breast Cancer Awareness?

A quick word of warning - clicking on the following link might be NSFW if someone isn't aware what it's really about.  This is in case you have one of those psycho drama-queen feminists that finds sexism around every corner and in every shadow, because if they happen to be looking over your shoulder when you click on it, they'll see busty superhero women fondling their boobs. (!)

Once you're in the clear, check out this story about a site called Superheroes For Breast Cancer Awareness.  What they're actually doing, of course, is the classic breast self-examination for lumps.  Your psycho drama-queen feminist co-worker should recognize the hand gestures for that, but if you're a dude looking at those images just as she's looking over your shoulder, then she's probably going to take it the wrong way.  They're like that.

Anyway, so what do you think?  Do you think that this will help the cause of breast cancer awareness?  Hm.  I kinda wonder how effective this would be, since they're fictional characters?  As far as I know, there hasn't been a prominent superhero woman that has gotten breast cancer.  Would that be a little too much "realism" for the average comics readers if that happened?

I'm still debating this, and I'll get back to you later, but do let me know what you think.

Boobs on Sesame Street!

The singer Katy Perry is in a skit with Elmo on Sesame Street, but the skit got pulled! Why? Well, they SAY that the dress was "inappropriate", but I think it was because the dress showed cleavage! A lot of it! Once again, boobs cause trouble! LOL

Ha! I guess this means that I'll never get invited to Sesame Street! ;-)

Gisele Bundchen in hot water over - boobs!

Boobs just can't stay out of the news!

Gisele Bundchen, wifey of Tom Brady, recently commented that it should be an international law for women to breastfeed for six months, apparently completely unaware how impractical this would be for most of the world's working moms. Ah, folks - I tell ya. The almighty boob strikes again.

It's also one of those moments in which many of us seem to relish when one of society's "elites" demonstrates how distant and unconnected they are with the problems of us regular 9 to 5 slobs. I don't know if it's envy of their lifestyle on our part or something else, but lashing back at celebrities (or other very public figures) when they make such comments tends to get a lot of press when these things flare up.

So is that fair to them? Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps it demonstrates that they shouldn't allow themselves to get so distant from the problems of regular folks. But wouldn't this happen to any of us who happens to come into a lot of money? Doesn't this demonstrate just how human we all are? Maybe all the more reason that such people shouldn't allow themselves to get so distant.

Gisele's comment about the need for breastfeeding isn't wrong, it's that she wants to institutionalize a practice that wouldn't be practical for the majority of working moms. And how would you enforce something like that anyway? What happens when you jail such women? Are their babies going to be incarcerated along with them? If not, then how will they breastfeed them? This was definitely a question that she should have thought over first before answering it.

You can bet, though, that Gisele will think twice next time before commenting on this issue again. :-)

Women and body image: My perspective

I found this article on women and body image from a man's perspective very interesting, so I decided to discuss it today on how I dealt with it growing up. This is also branching out from what I had discussed yesterday about Monica from Wapsi Square.

Odd as this may sound, I was in a sense fortunate to confront body image issues early on in life, because it meant that I dealt with them that much sooner. I began to get my feminine curves early on - about 11. Yes, at that age, I already had the beginnings of hips and breasts. This forced me to deal with how I viewed myself and how I dealt with sexuality issues early on. Emotionally and socially, I was still a girl at 11, but already I had to deal with unwanted attention from both boys and girls over my suddenly emerging curves.

I grew like a weed, so by the time I was 14 I already had good height and a pretty adult-looking body. I benefited from my mom's lessons about accepting myself as I am, because she went through this at that age. Fighting body image issues is one of the reasons that she became a Marxist feminist. I had to deal with grown men hitting on me (and some of them knew that I was a minor!) as well as other girls who would assume bad things about me because I already looked like an adult. Thing is, I didn't dress like some fashion diva back then - I was still a big comics nerd and wore the basic jeans and t-shirt, and even wore loose shirts so that it wouldn't be so obvious that I was busty.

The hardest part of these times was losing some childhood friends because they got jealous over how adult I already looked and the attention it brought me without even trying. I won't repeat what they said, but trust me, it was both unkind and uncalled for, because I couldn't help the way I looked, nor could I do anything about the attention that my curves drew from the boys and men, even though I intentionally dressed like a slob. I knew it was jealousy because they admitted it years later when we were all adults, and they apologized.

As I got into my late teens, I was already very tall, so just on that alone I was hard to miss, but add to this the curves, and I was a beacon even if I wore loose fitting clothes. Back then, my wardrobe was largely jeans and t-shirts, because 1.) my mom didn't want me to be some sort of fashion diva, and 2.) I was more insterested in other stuff anyway. It really bothered me that others were judging me on something that I had no control over, and it was also hard to know what guys really wanted from me - to really get to "know me better" as a person, or were they looking for some excuse to grab parts of my body? I had that a lot, by the way - being grabbed.

Some women have told me that I probably was able to get away with a lot of stuff because I was so curvy, but really, it was more a bother than a help. It would have been easy to develop a low self esteem from all this, but fortunately I had developed strength both from learning how to deal with unwanted looks and gropes, and from being politically right wing fighting for my views within a social circle that had a lot of left wingers. Still, it was sure a pain in my large ass to have to put up with crap that many other women didn't, but that's the case for any woman when you get down to it.

All through high school, I dressed as the basic jeans and t-shirt slob, rarely putting on something that looked less androgynous and more feminine. I didn't even go to the prom mainly because I didn't want to dress up (and besides, my Marxist mom felt that proms were so retro establishment anyway). It wasn't until college, when I made new friends, that I started to "dress like a girl" and came to appreciate my looks and curvy body.

It basically started one day when my friends were tired of my jeans and t-shirts. It was so funny because it was like one of those classic "make-over" stories that you often see on reality TV shows. We went to a hair salon to work on my long hair. Then we went to purchase cosmetics to teach me - pretty much for the very first time! - a lot of the make-up tricks that they had been using for years. Oh, and then there was the shopping!

I tell you, once I saw how good I can look, pretty much I never went back. Oh, I still wear jeans and tees, but they're more fashionably cut! LOL Anyway, it was like Barbie discovering that she looks really good when she's dressed for her body proportions! For instance, there is the instance of my big butt that has always been a source of annoyance with me. I'll be painfully honest that if it weren't for my big boobs, then others would notice that my butt is pretty big, too. I discovered one of those fashion tricks to wear a short loose skirt to emphasize my long legs and to hide my wide hips. This explains my superhero costume's skirt, by the way (but don't tell anyone I said that, okay?).

The lesson here, folks, is that there is a lot of truth in that saying about accepting yourself as you are. Other girls and women were jealous of me because I have a cup size naturally that some had to get surgery to achieve. In the meantime, I wished I was slender and skinny like they were, so that I could wear some of the great clothes they wore, but they were designed for skinny, less curvy bodies. Still, thanks to my college friends, I was able to find clothes that did look good on me.

In other words, this is an instance of "the grass looking greener on the other side". In the battle for the perfect body, there is no perfect body, and the sooner we all accept that, the better. Hell, folks, even the women on the covers of most fashion magazines don't look like that in real life! What you see on the cover is the final airbrushed or Photoshopped product, and NOT the model as she was originally photographed. This further enhances the implication that there is a perfect body if we can only lose enough weight/exercise/have the right surgeries/accessorize and cosmeticize/ etc. The most beautiful people I know are those who not only have a basic understanding of looks and fashion and at least put out a basic effort of neatness and cleanliness, but much more importantly, they acccept themselves as they are.

Wow! I didn't mean to go on and on like this, but as you can see, this issue touches on something I had to deal with growing up. Whether it's right or wrong or fair or unfair that I had to deal with issues related to being curvy early on in my life, it's just the way it is. If I had been short and uncurvy, then I would be complaining how no one notices me! LOL That's how human nature is: we always find something to complain about, and the path to maturity is how we deal with what we complain about. I just hope that I have chose the better path.

Well friends, I ended up posting something every day this week! A first, I think! And yet, I didn't discuss COMICS in that whole time! :-D

I promise that next week I'll get back to that. Take care and have a great weekend!

I totally understand what Monica is saying

In today's Wapsi Square, Monica explains her acceptance and even appreciation of her large boobs. And she's right about what she says that smaller busted women can wear a lot of stuff that big busted women can't; at least not without looking ridiculous or being called a slut. There are simply some outfits that do not look good on me because of my proportions; however, there are outfits that DO look good on me, and the thing is, that's how it is with all women - and not just the busty ones! LOL

Appearance for women in our society is way, way overemphasized, if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, I like dressing up, but look how many products and media there are dedicated just to women's appearance? One glaring example: How many grooms flip through a groom's magazine that they bought from a magazine rack? Are there even groom's magazines out there? Nearly all that you find are catalogs from tuxedo rental shops. But how many bridal mags are there? So why do bridal mags so totally and thoroughly dominate the wedding attire magazine market? Because the bride is expected to look absolutely, stunningly beautiful.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, by the way; but when you consider all the pressure society puts on women to always, always look like a high fashion model at all times, then it's no wonder so many women and girls suffer self-esteem issues over their looks. I just think that there has to be a better way to do things, that's all. Well, Monica has inspired me to write about my own experiences of what I went through growing up busty, so I'll work on that and try to post it tomorrow or next week. So guys, what do you tell the ladies in your life when they start complaining about their looks? I'm kinda curious now.

Proof: Even female toons retain water!

One of my readers sent these two clips below from a webcomic named PvP and noted that they are from strips that were about a week apart, and yet Jade's boobs are small in the first panel, but large in the second, so he asked what happened between the first panel and the second panel.

Well, I COULD have explained it as that's how Steve Kurtz, the creator of PvP, happened to draw her those two days, but I think my reader was looking for something a little more substantive. Okay, here we go!

What we have here is an example that even female toons retain water! :-D

How my boobs got so big: Revealed!

How did my boobs get so big? Now the secret it out! :-D

Wapsi Square has a lot of boob related humor of Monica, the character below. I get a lot of LOLs out of it because I can relate to what Monica goes through!

And yes, guys - watering your chest like that really works! Are you going to stop showering now? Ewwwww!!! LOL

Holy smokes! Junko from "Desert Punk"

Desert Punk is an anime that I have not seen, so I don't know if it's good or not. However, I was sent the pic below of one of the characters. Her name is Junko. And yes, her boobs are that big in the show. I don't know who the little dudes are, and I don't know what she's about to do with one of them.

But trust me on this, fellas - in real life, boobs that big are freakishly, monstrously heavy! Heavy, heavy, heavy! So heavy that it would be virtually impossible for Junko to hold that pose below for any length of time without tipping over to her right side or her left arm collapsing from the weight! Try strapping on watermelon-sized water balloons to your chest and see if you could hold yourself up at an angle like she is with just one arm!

I know you guys like big boobs and that you are sometimes too horny for your own good, but most of you would have to admit that this is a bit too much? If Junko were real, she would be a candidate for breast reduction surgery. She could lose several cup sizes and STILL be a DD!

Boobquake! LOL

Each time that I think that I've talked enough about boobs, something in the news brings them back in their full, busty glory!

I present to you Boobquake! (Note: It's a Facebook group, so you might have to log in to see it).

BTW, I won't be participating "officially", because I dress like that every day, so I wouldn't really count, would I?

I am still amazed that a woman's mammary glands can cause so much trouble! It just proves to me all over again that you guys can be too horny for your own good. :-P

My GFs daring me again: Breast feeding

I found out that my real life GFs collaborated to hit me with various boob-related questions just to see if I would cover them on my blog. As I've told them before, I try not to cover topics that are TOO heavy into female physiology and all the mysterious stuff our bodies do, because this is a blog about comics and the movies. Most of my readers are male who not only might be uninterested in the minutia of femininity (for example, do you guys really care what kind of nail polish or shampoo I use?), but actually might be turned off by such topics. However, since my GFs have challenged me and since I like to meet challenges head-on, I ask that you guys allow me to indulge in this for today and possibly another time or two. I promise I won't let my blog drift into a "chick blog", and that I'll stick to comics and movies.

So anyway, I'll be taking on not one, but two challenges, since they are related to basically the same thing. This is in regards to the benefits of breast feeding, and to the issue of breast feeding in public.

In regards to the first topic, what can I say but I agree that breast feeding benefits the baby? My only question would be in regards to the mother and our modern cultural tendency to put drugs in our bodies. And here I don't mean just illegal drugs such as marijuana or cocaine, but also alcohol and nicotine. On top of that are the prescription drugs that many of us take not because we have to, but just to "cope" with life.

Just as with pregnancy, anything that women put into their bodies also goes to their babies via breast feeding, and I hope that the medical professionals as well as their spouses and family members remind them of that should they take this up while still using any sort of legal or illegal drug. If they really want to take full advantage of all the benefits that babies get from breast feeding, then can they unhook themselves of whatever drug addictions they may have, at least while they are breast feeding?

It just occurred to me that I don't recall a single instance in which a superhero woman breast fed her baby in a comic book. I might have to look into that. Also, what if the She-Hulk breast fed her babies? Does she have gamma-irradiated milk that would turn her children into baby Hulks? Remember, She-Hulk became a Hulk because of a blood transfusion from her cousin, the Hulk. In other words, it was an exchange of body fluids of Bruce Banner's gamma irradiated blood. So theoretically, shouldn't the same logic apply here? It might be an ethical issue for her to deal with, whether to essentially curse her children into "Hulkhood" by breast feeding them. Should she hire out another woman to breast feed them, then, if she wants her kids to have the breast feeding benefit? Hm. I wonder if any comic writers will ever take this up? LOL

As for breast feeding in public, same with going around in public while topless: If you don't want people to stare, then don't do it. Our society still has issues with bare female breasts in public, so no woman should be surprised if they whip one of their boobs out in public and find that others take surprise and even offense. If they want to "challenge" our discomfort with the bare breast in public, then they have to expect to deal with the flak from others for the time being. That's just how it is right now. If you don't want stares or snarky comments, then be discreet, or go find a spot that is out of the way.

So there you go, GFs! How did I do?

Boobs in the news, and I don't mean you nerds!

With a blog that has "Busty" in the title, such questions are to be expected. :-)

One of my real life friends sent me a link related to boobery, and she asked me to comment on it. She was daring me, actually, so here we go!

In this story, in the city of Portland, Maine, women were taking advantage of the fact that they can go around topless legally. What I found particularly amusing is the sub-title, which states: "The picture-taking bothers the event's organizer, who says partial nudity shouldn't be remarkable". Even more amusing was a statement in the article, in which Ty McDowell, the organizer of the event, states: "I'm amazed," she said, and "enraged (at) the fact that there's a wall of men watching."

Amazed and enraged? HEL-LOOOO!!!! What planet is this woman living on? In what part of the U.S. are men NOT sexually stimulated by a pair of bare breasts, especially when they don't have to pay for such a sight? Even in our allegedly "open-minded and enlightened" society, men are still men! I can't believe that any woman can be so clueless as to be surprised that an event in which women are going to walk around topless wouldn't attract men with cameras, ESPECIALLY in our digital age in which there are cellphone cameras! I wouldn't be surprised if she sues, to be honest, but the surprise is that she was surprised that men with cameras would show up. I blame feminism for helping create such clueless women.

Look, there may be a day in which women will not feel uncomfortable going around topless, but unless Obamacare one day requires men to castrated (Don't think it's too crazy, dudes! Remember, feminists are one of Obama's core constituencies!) , I don't see a day in which men won't be snapping pictures of them. A pretty woman is a pretty woman, and a topless pretty woman is a flame for the moths that are young men with cameras. That's biology, folks, and no one should be surprised - even feminists. So if any women want to get over their discomfort in going around topless, then she will have to put up with men taking pictures of her. She also shouldn't be surprised if her pics end up on porno sites.

This is simple logic, folks. If a woman doesn't want men taking pics of her while topless and she doesn't want to end up on porn sites, then she should keep her top on while in public. And since I know this is going to be asked next, no I will not be going around topless anytime soon. Not gonna happen, so put such thoughts and ideas out of your head. :-P

Power Girl's cleavage hole: Now Magog gets it

In the #6 issue of DC Comics' Magog vs. the JSA appears the scene below. See folks? Magog gets it. Even when he knows why Power Girl has that cleavage hole in her costume, he still can't help but be distracted by it. It works, guys! Your horny side will betray you - even when you know what we're up to! :-D

The Hooters restaurant, but no hooters! And other news.

The webcomic, PvP, managed to have a storyline involving the restaurant Hooters without actually showing any of the waitresses from the front! Actually, you never saw any of the waitresses' faces either - only their asses. Hmm... Not sure what the creator of that strip, Scott Kurtz, is saying with this representation of women.

Anyway, another oddity is the face of Cole, the dude in the strip above. For one, look how small and beady his eye is! Not only that, he has no eyebrows! Unless you count that one long pen stroke on his forehead as his eyebrows. Actually, it's more of a unibrow if it's supposed to be his eyebrows. Dang, I need to stop thinking about this - I'm making Cole creepier by the minute!

In other news, I'm back! The real life crisis (and not really a crisis) has been taken care of, and your favorite conservative blogging busty superhero chick is back in action and ready to take world by storm!

Some time back, I had brought up some changes that I was hoping to do to my blog, and one idea was to separate my political commentary from this blog into its own separate blog. This was mainly to help focus my political statements in a blog meant for political discussion. However, after thinking about it and after discussing it with my boss and a couple of other people I know, I have decided to keep my political commentary here and just manage one blog instead of spreading myself out over two blogs.

What I do here just seems to work, so why mess with it? So having finally resolved that particular discussion, I will now get back to the changes that I had initially planned on doing before I began mulling over whether I wanted to start a second blog. The changes will be coming over the next few weeks, and they'll be small and subtle, but you should still notice them.

Aaah, it's good to be back! Stay tuned!

Breast cancer research again

Word of warning: the video below might not be "safe for work". This is in case you have a psycho feminist boss at work who can't tolerate a little - ahem - "titillating" imagery. (Yeah, bad pun. So sue me)

I found this video at the end of this Salon article. I don't know what's gotten into Salon lately that they've gotten all booby, but it makes for interesting reading, because it hits upon stuff that I've recently discussed on my blog - as you regular readers know.

So. Does the above ad make you guys think more about the need for breast cancer research? Are you now motivated to do something about it? Did the ad work as intended, or did it do as the article above states and "insult men's intelligence"? For my part, I don't think men's intelligence is what was being aimed for in that ad, ifyouknowwhatImean...

The ad does reflect on something that I've stated in one way or another on my blog: Sometimes you dudes are too horny for your own good, so it was presenting an alternative for you guys to channel your horniness into productive use. See? You guys are that bad and that obvious. ;-)

At the same time, I do worry that these ads and Internet memes for breast cancer research are sometimes too cutesy given the seriousness of the subject matter. Granted, trying to come to terms with having breast cancer is very trying (to say the least!), but are matters helped with these cutesy-poo responses? It's almost like a denial of the realities of what is coming.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying that women diagnosed with breast cancer should suddenly become morbid and fatalistic, but that there should be a balance. And more credit should be given to those women, that they are adults and can cope with what comes. But to learn how to cope with it, they have to know - TRULY know - what is coming. And posting the color of one's bra on Facebook or bouncy boobies in a Youtube video doesn't really do anything to help.

Boy, for something that just hangs on women's chests and feeds babies, it sure causes a lot of problems eh? Anyway, all this makes me think of whether things can be done differently. It can be argued that breasts are THE defining visible characteristic of womanhood, but we also run into the danger of being defined ONLY by our breasts. We are more than our breasts, after all. Women benefit by the lure power that breasts give, but at the same time, we risk losing something in the process - namely, being viewed as a person with a brain instead of a rack.

I'm not sure what to say next. I'll have to think on this some more. Feel free to offer your input on this matter.

White

If you're wondering what the deal is with the posting of a color in Facebook, it's a meme to promote breast cancer research. This Salon article discusses it. The woman posting a color is supposed to be posting the color of the bra she happens to be wearing at that time. Yeah, that's it. So you see the connection between "white" and breast cancer research? Neither do I.

I thought about doing it, but decided against it because I didn't see the point of simply posting a color when you don't know what the heck was going on. How would you know that this is supposed to be about promoting breast cancer research if all they do is post a color?

I only posted "White" above because that is the color of almost all my bras (comes with wearing a white costume, after all!), so what would be the point of simply posting "white" every day? If you didn't know about the breast cancer meme, you might think that I was promoting racism!

Anyway, now you know. :-)

The cleavage hole in the costume: Explained

Below is an exchange between DC Comics' Power Girl and Cyclone (in case you don't already know, PG is the blond and Cyclone is the redhead) in January 2010's issue of the Justice Society of America 80-Page Giant #1.

If you wish, go ahead and scroll down to read the exchange before I continue. What I wish to discuss is related to the exchange below. I'll wait. Hmmhmhmhm... lalala...

Okay, what did you think? Cyclone gets it on why PG has the famous "cleavage hole" in her costume. Pretty much, it's the same reason I have the cleavage hole in my costume: It's theater. A little more on this in a bit.

I've attempted before to explain one of the purposes of my blog: To tease you guys on your obsession with boobs. I've also discovered that in the process of teasing you guys on this, I am also partly contributing to the objectification of women, which was not quite what I was shooting for with my blog - but it also demonstrated to me on how easy it is to drop into the trap of objectifying women. So then - why do this? Why make this blog on boobs, and why have that cleavage hole (and the smiley face on my boob, for that matter)?

I thought about this, and I'll try again to explain. I want to keep working on this until I get a good working explanation that will be functional for such discussions. I know I haven't gotten to that point yet, and I am not certain that I'll get to it this time around, but hey - nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh? So let's have at it, shall we?

Most women who want to show cleavage would simply wear a low-cut top or dress. There's trashy ways to show cleavage of course, but there are outfits that can both show cleavage and yet still be fashionable, stylish and elegant. For example, think of most formal ballroom outfits or bridal dresses. Like I said previously, those outfits show cleavage by being low cut enough to show cleavage.

An outfit with a cleavage hole, however, simply has a hole cut where cleavage can be seen. PG's outfit has an oval shaped opening while mine is more of a chevron shape. The thing is, an outfit can be designed to be low cut and yet still not show cleavage, but an outfit with a cleavage hole ain't designed for anything else BUT to show cleavage! Because of the deliberate intent to show cleavage, a cleavage hole is often considered one of the "trashy" ways of showing cleavage.

So what do I think? Do I think cleavage holes are trashy? If I did, I wouldn't have one on my costume, would I? Do you think I would deliberately wear something that I regard as trashy - especially since I'm an admitted conservative? Do conservative women dress trashy? It's just not done, is it? Would June Cleaver sport a cleavage hole in one of her classy 50's dresses that she seemed to always wear?

Let's hit the questions above in order. I think cleavage holes are fine under certain circumstances; for example, in a superhero costume, or perhaps a cheerleader costume. In other circumstances, while I don't think they're trashy per se, I do think that they can look very odd on a woman's standard everyday top. You can have holes in your jeans and look fashionable, but holes in tops would just look odd, or like you don't take care of your clothes.

In regards to conservatism and attire, just because I am conservative does not mean that I wouldn't wear something a little revealing. There is a reason I wear the long sleeve crop-top with the cleavage hole and the short skirt: It looks good on me for one, and it serves as a great distraction in battles with bad guys - and bad girls, for that matter.

And the thing is, who says that being a conservative woman means dressing like the stereotypical school marm? Why can't we be conservative yet hot? Have you seen some of the women on FOX News? They look pretty hot to me. This is in contrast to the liberal women I've seen who dress in various degrees of sloppy. Basically though, nearly their entire wardrobe consists of blue jeans, t-shirt and flip-flops.

Which brings me to my costume. Like I said above, while tops with cleavage holes might not be appropriate for everyday wear, it's a different story for a superhero costume. Superheroes are supposed to be showy and larger than life. It's theater, as Cyclone explained in the exchange below. As egotistical as it may sound, superheroes are meant to draw attention to themselves for various reasons, but two primary ones are:

1.) To provide a visible symbol of hope to the general population that no matter how bad things get, someone is on the job to set things aright (Captain America is one such example), and

2.) To draw the attention of the bad guys away from innocent bystanders by drawing attention towards the superhero. Thus, the costume has to stand out from your usual everyday attire.

Because of my long (I'm 6 foot 1) and curvy proportions, my costume emphasizes those aspects of myself even more. I have long legs, so I wear a short skirt. And of course, I have big boobs, so I have a crop top which ends just below the bustline as added emphasis, and of course the top also has the cleavage hole. As for the smiley face, it's mainly to draw attention there even more, plus it's a memory device; that is, it's one feature on how you remember me: as the superhero chick with the smiley face on her boob. Theater! And marketing! LOL

In my next blog post, I'll discuss how we superheroes utilize the attention we draw from supervillains.

Yoko and Boota

I was sent the images below from a female friend of mine, mainly because she knew what I would comment on *specifically*. Neither I nor her know the Manga show that the characters below are from, but their names are Yoko (the busty chick) and Boota (the little furball in her cleavage.

Now, I'm willing to impart that ol' "suspension of disbelief" to accept that a little furball could live in her cleavage without leaving poop or urine in her bra. That's just cartoons, and it's how you dudes' strange little horny minds work. But, there is a problem in the image that follows below.

Okay, you see those two images. Now check out this one:

See the problem here? Well, I'll explain it for you: Boota is not in Yoko's cleavage! Don't think so? Look again. Note that you can see the space between Yoko's boobs at the bottom of her bra. That span is where Boota should be. In other words, that bra is connected at the bottom only by that thin red strap, and does not form a pocket for Boota to be staying in. In order for Boota to be residing in her bra, there needs to be fabric spanning that cleavage to form that hamster-holding pocket.

So... just where is it that Boota is emerging from, if not Yoko's cleavage? It looks like he's emerging from her sternum, a la those Alien movies! Somehow, Boota is literally burrowing into her chest! Wouldn't that hurt, you think? Unless Yoko has some super power that allows critters to burrow into her body, but that's just creepy.

Anyway, that's my take. Sorry if I burst any of you guys' bubbles there... :-P

Breasts and society again

Anonymous said...
Hi. I have been reading your blog for awhile, and I believe that while your goal was to make fun of guys who obsess about women breasts, I think you ARE contributing to objectification of women. The positive note for you to counter this issue is that you fully explain yourself.

I apologize that you are getting a headache, but as I said before not all men are like that.

I do agree with you that men (such as myself) wired visually, and is a human component to the mating process with women. And there are men that are hybrids. What I am saying is that they feel from the inside and express themselves.

If you were truly upset about this, this blog would not exist.

Although objectification of women is not a positive thing, you DON'T HATE men because of it.
In conclusion, I say you should continue writing your blog. As a busty women, you are wise and are willing to educate to make society better for your gender. As a guy, I am learning a lot from you about the female perspective.

I posted Anonymous’ response above, because he pretty much captures the responses of my blog entry from last week about boobs and society. Most of the other responses were from those I know in person, so it was an interesting weekend for me. ;-)

Nearly all of the responses I got said what Anon said, that I was more objectifying women rather than my true intent of poking fun at men for being so obsessed over boobs. All I can say is that I’ll work on being clearer as to what I’m trying to do with my blog. Thing is, I kinda like how I’m doing things now, and I don’t want to mess too much with something that is working.

After all, if I wanted to mess with something that works, I’d be a liberal! (badaBOOM!). Why do you liberal guys and gals do that anyway – mess with stuff that works? You mess with it and then when it doesn’t work, you’ll tax the rest of us because you (probably intentionally) created a class of people who are the disenfranchised “victims” of the “new ways” of doing things.

Okay, I’m digressing here. Getting back to the topic…

There is a Romanian tennis player named Simona Halep who was known more for her DD’s than her tennis skills. Note the images below.

There are two things (no pun intended) to take away from this:

1.) Those pics weren’t shot to demonstrate the technical proficiency of her tennis swing, and

2.) This shows just how much big boobs move around on an active woman, and also shows why a shrunken-down male superhero couldn’t hide in an active woman’s bra without serious injury and probably death.

Halep is an example of the convergence of a woman of her generous proportions + mens’ tendencies towards visual sexual stimulation + today’s technological means of sending images anywhere and everywhere around the world in an instant. If you do a Google search for her, the majority of the pics you find will be those like I posted. That’s how she got her fame: that outfit plus her breasts captured shifted in various directions.

You guys no doubt enjoy those images of her breasts in unusual positions, but how do you think she feels? She had stated that they get in the way, and that it was why she was going to have breast reduction surgery. I have no doubt that it will indeed help her in her tennis game, but I also think that she didn’t want to be known as a glandular freak. She probably didn’t want people to come to her matches just to watch her breasts bounce. And I don’t blame her. She’s still a teenager, after all, and already has enough to deal with without also having to deal with being thought of as a freak show.

Had she asked me, I would have told Halep to talk to another tennis player known for her boobs. I mean, of course, Serena Williams. She's just as busty, and yet she also wins tournaments - so it can be done. It might have done Halep good to know that she has - ahem - a bosom buddy (pun intended that time!) who knows what it's like to play tennis while busty. If nothing else, Williams could have suggested a better bra for her to wear, because Halep does bounce too much. It's a moot point, though, because Halep has already had the surgery.

It’s because of women like Halep that I made my blog. Busty women need to be seen for more than their cup size, and I had hoped that, by creating this blog, I could show that women like me can be busty and still have a brain. You know what’s funny? Non-busty women wish they were busty, and some have breast augmentation surgery in order to give the appearance of a larger size. Meanwhile, busty women often get tired of lugging around their heavy breasts and get breast reduction surgery! I bet even if God had made all women a good sized C cup, we’d find something else to be unhappy about! LOL “We all look alike! There’s no variety!”

It’s also why I say to the ladies to accept themselves as they are. Non-busty women have advantages that busty women do not. Here is just a short list. Women like me deal with back and shoulder pain constantly. Eyes rarely go above the chest. In sports – especially physical sports – we get the wrong kind of attention. It’s neither cheap nor easy to find outfits that look good and are tailored for our proportions. That also goes for bras. The bras I get are not the nice, slender fashion types that you see in most department store catalogs that you guys are always thumbing through (don’t lie. You know you do it). Nope, what I get resembles the Golden Gate Bridge.

Having said all that, let me finish by saying that I am very happy and proud to be a woman, and in particular, a busty woman. I mentioned previously that I am not a feminist, because too many feminists want to concentrate on the negative; that is, on what women don’t get in our society. Not me. I’d rather concentrate on the positive. Despite not quite hitting my mark of my blog being a gentle poke to you guys who obsess over boobs, I still think I managed to carve my little niche on the Internet. It doesn’t mean that I should stop trying to strike that balance I’m looking for of celebrating the busty woman while at the same time teasing you guys for obsessing over boobs. So what this all means, dear friends is this: I ain’t going anywhere. :-D

The thing is, when I had viewed that site that was at the center of my self-examination of my blog and it’s purpose, it really didn’t change anything that I didn’t know already. All that did change was the awareness of just how much booby stuff is truly out there. In other words, it wasn't a question of content, but of quantity. And Anonymous, you are right: If I were truly upset about this, then this blog wouldn’t exist. But for better or worse, it does exist. Let’s just hope that I get more right than wrong. :-P

The question of breasts and society

On Facebook yesterday, I mentioned that I needed a drink. It's because I was reading this at the time: Victoria's Secret Compartment

Look at that site!

The link was sent to me by a reader. What got my attention first, though, was this image:

The woman is pulling a whole freakin' full length bazooka from her bra!

Yeahyeahyeah... I know what some of you guys are going to say - "It's just a cartoon!" and "It's exaggeration for humorous effect!". But guys, check out that page, and see how much of this "titty show" stuff runs in the entertainment media! It was enough to give me a headache! It's why I needed a drink, by the way.

Anyway, one of the reasons that I made this blog was to poke fun at the often absurd obsession that you guys have with boobs. I've said before on this blog that to me, they're just boobs - that is, they're a part of my body just like my hands or my knees. That's it!

And yet to you guys for some reason I don't understand, boobs are a magical, mysterious and almost mystical force of nature - so much so that there is literally tons of stuff out there just on boobs, and there are websites like the one I linked above that are sources for other such mammarian imagery. Sites like that are out there because you guys will watch it, and time and money are invested in such sites because you guys will buy what they offer, which is various expositions of a woman's mammary glands. Yeah, guys - they're mammary glands. They're the equivalent of a cow's udder. They are what we use to feed babies with. You call them boobs, tits, bazooms, etc, but they're just breasts.

Not only do you guys spend money for these titty shows, but women spend money as well to make their boobs look more presentable. Especially bothersome to me is that they will pay to have foreign objects surgically inserted into their breasts so that they look larger. I've always said that a natural A cup beats an inflated D cup any day, but apparently, I'm in the minority opinion on that, because thousands of women will endure the health risks of breast augmentation surgery. Granted, being busty myself, it's easy for me to be critical of women who go through such surgery - I'll admit that much - but I still say that they should just accept themselves for who they are.

Let me say this: I often defend you guys against feminists who want to find sexism under every rock, behind every tree, and in every pair of men's pants. I tell them that guys obsess over boobs because they are wired that way - to be sexually attracted by sight. I think God gave men that visually-stimulated sexual attraction so that you would notice us. Otherwise, we probably could never get you away from your sports and your drinking binges with your buddies. I tell the feminists that at least we get SOMETHING out of you with our boob bait.

I'm not going to go into an anti-feminist tear here, because even though I'm conservative, I don't see feminism as totally wrong - just wrongly applied. Let's just say that I support the feminism that helps women to become better and stronger people, and not the kind of feminism that is man-hating and indulges in whiny self-pity and institutionalized victimhood. Women and womanhood have a lot to offer society, and "victimist" feminists often forget that during their narcissistic rant-fests.

Having said that, when I am confronted with sites as the one I linked above, I have to wonder if my blog is helping matters, or if it's only contributing to the problem. In other words, is my blog truly poking fun at you guys for being obsessed with boobs like I want it to be doing, or am I only contributing to the problem of you objectifying women? That's where I am at right now, and that's what I'll be mulling over for the next few days.

Anyway, I'd appreciate your input on this matter, from both the men and the women.

Now to go get that drink.
