It's been awhile since I did one of my "real life superhero" entries, so here's one today!
This article discusses two college students who converted a salad spinner into a centrifuge to help with blood diagnoses for anemia. The goal was to create a portable and inexpensive means of diagnosing anemia that didn't require electricity, so the students came up with their idea.
And my little nerdlings, they didn't have to apply for a ton in federal grants to do this. It's good to see that our country hasn't lost its sense of ingenuity to help their fellow man.
